Manchester United reportedly identify Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa as a cheaper alternative to Jadon Sancho, but could face competition from Chelsea and Juventus.

Manchester United have reportedly identified Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa as a cheaper alternative to signing Jadon Sancho when the transfer window reopens.

The Red Devils were considered one of the frontrunners for the signature of in-demand Sancho, but executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward cast doubt over the move last week by claiming that mega-money deals would not be realistic in the immediate aftermath of coronavirus.

Sancho would likely cost well over £100m and United have therefore been looking for cheaper options should that not be possible.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Chiesa is one of the players on their radar, although they are likely to face stiff competition for his signature.

United's Premier League rivals Chelsea are reportedly in the mix, while Juventus and Inter Milan are also interested and could have the edge due to the 22-year-old's preference to remain in Italy.

Fiorentina are thought to want €70m (£61m) for Chiesa, who has scored six goals and created five more in 23 Serie A outings this season.
