Manchester United are reportedly continuing their pursuit of Benfica midfielder Nicolas Gaitan despite the Premier League champions' dismissal of a preliminary agreement.
The Red Devils attempted to quash suggestions that the playmaker was a realistic target. However, reports in Portugal are adamant that a switch is on the cards.
Benfica have not denied the speculation surrounding their player, and the initial reports are thought to have substance considering their close access to the Portuguese side, according to The Independent.
While United are believed to have compiled a preliminary contract with Gaitan, it is understood that the agreement does not prevent rival clubs from swooping for the midfielder.
