Manchester United are reportedly keeping close tabs on Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes, who has also been linked with Arsenal, Everton, Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli.

Manchester United have reportedly entered the running to sign Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes this summer.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made the signing of a new central defender one of his top priorities for the current transfer window as he looks for a regular and long-term partner for Harry Maguire.

Twenty-two-year-old Gabriel has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a number of months now, with Everton particularly keen on his services and Arsenal having also been linked.

Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli are also now thought to be monitoring his situation, and The Mirror reports that United have become the fifth team in the race for his signature.

The Brazilian could be available for around £20m, making him a significantly cheaper option than some of the other players allegedly on United's defensive radar.

Lille's failure to qualify for next season's Champions League as a result of the Ligue 1 season being cut short is expected to increase the likelihood of Gabriel seeking pastures new, and United hope to use the funds generated from any sale of Chris Smalling on a direct replacement.

Gabriel made 34 appearances for Lille across all competitions in 2019-20.
