According to The Mirror, the Scot is planning to offer Berbatov as bait to land the Polish star.
The Bulgarian international recently said that he is on the lookout for a new club after being made to feel unwanted at Old Trafford.
The former Bayer Leverkusen man could be tempted by an offer to return to Germany, where he spent five years before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in 2006.
