Manchester United are reportedly considering allowing Cristiano Ronaldo to leave on a season-long loan deal if the 37-year-old triggers a one-year extension.

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to allow Cristiano Ronaldo to leave on a season-long loan deal.

The future of the forward has been uncertain after Ronaldo indicated that he wants to leave United this summer to play for a club in the Champions League.

A number of clubs – including Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Sporting Lisbon – have been linked with a move for the 37-year-old, but no concrete offer has materialised from any of Europe's biggest clubs.

With the situation still uncertain, The Mirror are reporting that United are looking into the possibility of a loan deal.

United would reportedly sanction a loan deal to a Champions League club if Ronaldo triggered a one-year option to extend his contract until 2024.

The proposed deal would see the Portuguese international head off for a season before returning for the 2023-24 campaign, with the Red Devils hopeful of securing a top-four place this season.
