Chelsea are reportedly struggling in their attempts to agree a new contract with Mason Mount after talks reach a stalemate.

Talks over a new contract for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount have reportedly reached a stalemate.

The Chelsea academy graduate has made 192 appearances for the club, scoring 33 goals and providing 37 assists.

Although Mount has been with the West London club since the age of six, his future at Stamford Bridge appears to be in doubt.

The England international has less than 18 months to run on his current deal, and talks over a new contract have proven to be difficult.

According to The Telegraph, negotiations between Mount and Chelsea have stalled, which has led to speculation about a possible departure.

Mount is currently one of the lowest-paid players in the Chelsea squad and is keen to treble his currently £80,000 a week wage.

There is a belief that Mount wants a significant pay increase as an acknowledgement of his performances and importance to the club.

The report also claims that the stalemate in contract talks has not resulted in a stand-off between Mount and his manager Graham Potter.

Mount has continued to fulfil his marketing requests and has featured regularly for the Blues this season, registering three goals and six assists in 32 appearances.

Negotiations over Mount's contract were initially handled by Todd Boehly, but they were passed to co-sporting director Paul Winstanley after the World Cup, which has also slowed discussions.

Mount's current situation has alerted a number of clubs, who are considering a summer move, including Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle United.

A recent report claimed that Chelsea would be looking to receive a fee of £50m if they decide to sell the Englishman at the end of the season.

Mount has missed Chelsea's last two games through injury, but he is expected to return to the squad for Saturday's home meeting with Everton.

The 24-year-old has also been included in the England squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers alongside his Chelsea teammates Ben Chilwell, Reece James and Conor Gallagher.
