FC Twente manager Steve McClaren has described Liverpool target Luuk de Jong as "made for English football".
The 21-year-old has struck an amazing 25 goals in 24 Eredivisie games this season, attracting many admirers from across Europe.
Manchester United, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have all reportedly joined the race to sign the Dutch international.
McClaren said that he is desperate to keep the £12m-rated striker at the club for one more season but has admitted that it may prove to be a difficult task.
"Luuk is an 'English style' striker, made for English football. I am just desperate to keep him one more year in Holland. But I realise that will be difficult.
"Luuk is big, strong, brilliant in the air and scores goals so easily. He has every quality a top-class striker needs to have for a big club."
De Jong has earned seven caps for Holland.
