Former defender Gary Pallister says that Manchester United should up their interest in Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.

Former defender Gary Pallister has claimed that Leicester City midfielder James Maddison is capable of taking Manchester United to the next level.

Having impressed since moving to the King Power Stadium last summer, Maddison has been linked with a number of top Premier League clubs, including United.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has acknowledged that the Foxes may find it difficult to keep the 22-year-old in the East Midlands, and Pallister feels that United should be looking to take advantage of the situation.

The ex-centre-back told BonusCodeBets: "There was a lot of talk about him in the press. He stood out in the game against Tottenham, he's got a lot of quality and energy – and he obviously scored the winner.

"He's the type of player who can take Man United to the next level. However, Ole needs to try his best for now to squeeze the best out of the squad he has for the next few months."

The playmaker still has just under four years left on his Leicester contract.
