Premier League clubs will reportedly be "queuing up" to sign a Manchester United defender if the Red Devils decide to let him go next summer.

Premier League clubs will reportedly be "queuing up" to sign Harry Maguire if Manchester United decide to let him go next summer.

The 31-year-old defender has spent the last five-and-a-half years with the Red Devils and has made a total of 217 appearances across all competitions, winning the EFL Cup and FA Cup during his time at Old Trafford.

However, Maguire has fallen down the pecking order over the last few seasons, while injuries have limited the Englishman two just seven starts and four substitute appearances across all tournaments so far this term.

Man United's No.5 is now facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford, as the Red Devils have allegedly yet to make a decision on whether to activate an automatic one-year extension in the defender's contract, which is due to expire in June 2025.

Maguire was strongly linked with a £20m transfer to West Ham United last summer, but a move to the London Stadium failed to materialise.

PL clubs to queue up for Maguire's signature?

However, Man United's former chief scout Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at the club, has stated that several clubs are monitoring Maguire's situation and could make a move for the England international if he becomes available.

"There are Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on the situation," Brown told Football Insider. "Any club who wants a solid and experienced leader and centre-back will be interested in Harry Maguire.

"He's a huge threat from set-pieces, both defending and attacking them, and he's good on the ball. He was England's first-choice centre-back for years so he's got so much experience.

"I was constantly on about him when I was at West Ham, but they made an offer of £20m for him and it was quickly rejected. They're still looking at singing a new centre-back now, so I'd expect that interest is still there.

"If United decide to let him go at the end of the season, there are clubs queuing up for his signature, so he won't be short of options."

Which Premier League clubs could sign Maguire?

As mentioned above, Brown has suggested that West Ham could reignite their interest in Maguire, who could be recruited to provide support and competition for Max Kilman, Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos.

It remains to be seen whether Maguire would be interested in a return to Leicester City and a reunion with former Man United interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was appointed as the new Foxes manager last week.

Newcastle United are thought to be interested in bolstering their centre-back options and could turn to someone like Maguire as a cheaper alternative to targets including Marc Guehi, who they failed to lure to St James' Park last summer.

Maguire played for just under an hour in Man United's 2-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League on Wednesday and will be hoping to start again when Ruben Amorim's side take on Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday.
