The 26-year-old's contract expires in 2021, with agent Mino Raiola said to have commenced talks with United over a new deal.
United, who recently granted David de Gea a new bumper deal, have encountered difficulties with wages after their decision to hand Alexis Sanchez £400,000 a week gave other top players justification to demand a similar sum.
