Manchester United's new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe will allow as many as 12 first-team players to leave the club this summer, according to a report.

Manchester United's new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly prepared to allow as many as 12 first-team players to leave the club during this summer's transfer window.

Ratcliffe is planning sweeping changes at Old Trafford, with the British billionaire determined to put the club in a position to challenge for major trophies once again.

Man United could end this season with the FA Cup trophy, but they are now highly unlikely to play Champions League football next term, currently sitting seventh in the table, 16 points off fourth-placed Aston Villa.

Erik ten Hag's position as head coach is far from secure, with England manager Gareth Southgate, departing Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel and ex-Chelsea boss Graham Potter identified as potential replacements for the Dutchman this summer.

According to The Mirror, there will also be widespread changes in terms of players, with as many as 12 of the current squad potentially leaving during the summer market.

Marcus Rashford 'among those up for sale'

The report claims that the Red Devils are willing to listen to offers for Marcus Rashford, with the England international struggling during the 2023-24 campaign.

The 26-year-old signed a new long-term deal at Old Trafford last summer, but he has only managed eight goals and five assists in 40 appearances this term and will allegedly be sold for the right price.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire can also seemingly depart, while Raphael Varane is out of contract at the end of June and is set to leave on a free transfer.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are also expected to leave, while a permanent deal for Sofyan Amrabat is unlikely to be pursued, with the Morocco international finding it difficult to impress while on loan from Fiorentina, so he is expected to head back to his parent club.

Jadon Sancho, who returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan in January, may also depart, while Anthony Martial is almost certain to move on when his contract expires at the end of June.

Antony will also allegedly leave providing that the club receive a suitable offer for the Brazilian, who has struggled to make his mark since arriving at Old Trafford in the summer of 2022.

Donny van de Beek is unlikely to be signed on a permanent basis by loan club Eintracht Frankfurt this summer, but the Netherlands international will seemingly depart this summer one way or another.

The report claims that Andre Onana, Lisandro Martinez, Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund are viewed as vital players moving forward.

Rashford's departure would undoubtedly be the most shocking considering his performance levels last season, managing 30 goals and 10 assists in 56 appearances, but he has struggled in 2023-24, and it does appear that an exit from Old Trafford would be best for both parties.

Man United have six more Premier League matches this season before switching their attention to the FA Cup, with their Manchester City their opponents in the final for the second year in a row.
