Report: Manchester United bid for Benfica's Victor Lindelof

A report claims that Manchester United have launched a £20m bid for Benfica's Swedish defender Victor Lindelof.

Manchester United have reportedly tabled a £20m bid for Benfica defender Victor Lindelof.

The 21-year-old joined Benfica from Vasteras SK in 2012 and initially represented the Portuguese side's B team, before stepping into the first-team picture in 2015.

Last summer, the Sweden international extended his contract with Benfica until 2020, but according to Aftonbladet, Man United are intent on bringing the defender to Old Trafford and have already submitted a bid.

The same report, however, claims that the offer is £3m shy of Lindelof's release clause.

The two-time Sweden representative made 15 appearances for Benfica during the 2015-16 campaign.
