Manchester United have reportedly delayed plans to hold contract talks with both Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, despite their current deals having a little over 12 months left to run.
The English duo will be allowed to leave Old Trafford at the end of next season on a free, unless terms are agreed beforehand on extending their stay.
However, according to The Telegraph, discussions between the pair and Louis van Gaal are not on the agenda for anytime in the near future.
Fellow centre-back Jonny Evans is also entering the final stages of his contract, with the same report claiming that one of the trio will be shown the door this summer in order to make way for a big-money signing.
Smalling was this week linked with a £12m move to Arsenal, while Jones is also said to be wanted by a number of fellow Premier League sides.
