Ronaldinho: 'I was set to join Manchester United'

Two-time World Player of the Year Ronaldinho claims that he was set to join Manchester United before opting for Barcelona following a call from Sandro Rosell.

Two-time World Player of the Year Ronaldinho has revealed that he was set to join Manchester United before ultimately opting for Barcelona.

The 34-year-old, who scored 75 goals in 145 appearances for the Blaugrana, claimed that he was on the verge of moving to Old Trafford from Paris Saint-Germain before Sandro Rosell let him know that he was going to become Barca's new president.

Ronaldinho is quoted by the Daily Star as saying: "A good friend of mine who was running to be on the Barcelona board, Sandro Rosell, had asked me if I'd play for Barcelona when they won the election and I told him that I would.

"I was on the brink of joining Manchester United, there were just a few details to iron out, but Rosell called me at the last minute to tell me that they were going to win the election. That made everything happen very fast."

Ronaldinho is currently said to be considering a move to Angola's Kabuscorp from Mexican outfit Queretaro.
