Southampton are reportedly considering a move to sign Micah Richards this summer, should they lose current right-back Nathaniel Clyne.
Clyne's existing contract at St Mary's Stadium is set to expire in June 2016 and his form with the Saints is thought to have caught the eye of Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal.
The People claims that Southampton have already earmarked Richards, currently on loan at Fiorentina, as a option if Clyne decides to leave the South Coast club.
The Hampshire outfit have been offered the chance to sign 26-year-old Manchester City defender and Richards is thought to be open to a deal.
However, Southampton executive director Les Reed is also reported to have identified AZ's Mattias Johansson as a possible alternative to Richards.
