Atletico Madrid are reportedly planning a January swoop for Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garancho, who has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford recently.

Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garnacho has reportedly attracted interest from Atletico Madrid.

The 20-year-old has been one of many casualties during the beginning of Ruben Amorim's reign at Old Trafford, missing out on the matchday party for the 2-1 win at Manchester City on Sunday.

Amorim stated post-match that the decision to omit Garnacho and Marcus Rashford from the squad at the Etihad was purely tactical.

After playing on 50 occasions for the Red Devils across all competitions last season, Garnacho has been utilised sparingly by new boss Amorim.

Garnacho will be hoping to make a return to action for Man United on Thursday night, when they travel to Tottenham Hotspur for an EFL Cup quarter-final.

Man United star Garnacho wanted by Atletico Madrid?

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Man United could be preparing to end their four-year association with Garnacho in the very near future.

The report claims that La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are keen on securing the services of the out-of-favour youngster during the January window.

It is understood that Atletico boss Diego Simeone is a massive fan of Garnacho, who could become surplus to requirements at the Theatre of Dreams.

With the future of talisman Antoine Griezmann up in the air ahead of the summer, it is believed that the Spanish outfit are planning major reinforcements for their attacking line.

Simeone's troops are keeping tabs with Real Madrid and Barcelona in the La Liga standings, currently sitting in second, level on points with pacesetters Barca.

Who will replace Garnacho at Man United?

With academy product Garnacho linked with a move away in the New Year, attentions will turn to who could replace the 20-year-old in the Man United squad.

The youngster has undeniably suffered from the Red Devils' change in tactical approach following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag in November.

While Garnacho has floundered, Ivorian winger Amad Diallo has continued to blossom, netting the win goal against Pep Guardiola's Man City on the weekend.
