Serie A side Lazio are reportedly weighing up whether to make a move to sign defender Victor Lindelof from Manchester United.

Serie A side Lazio are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof.

The Sweden international has made 259 competitive appearances since joining the Red Devils from Benfica in the summer of 2017.

Lindelof's seven-year stay at Old Trafford appears to be drawing to a close after entering the final 12 months of his contract.

The 30-year-old has slipped down the pecking order following the summer arrivals of Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt.

Erik ten Hag is also able to call upon Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans as his central defensive options.

Lazio considering Lindelof move

As a result of the intense competition for places, Lindelof will find game time hard to come by if he fails to secure a move away before Friday's transfer deadline.

According to the Daily Mail, Italian club Lazio could present Lindelof with a potential exit route out of Old Trafford.

The report claims that Lazio are weighing up whether to make a move for Lindelof in the latter stages of the summer transfer window.

Lazio are seemingly keen to bolster Marco Baroni's current centre-back options which include Alessio Romagnoli, Nicolo Casale, Mario Gila and Patric.

Could Lindelof's injury issues hamper a move?

While Lazio are considering a potential move, it remains to be seen whether Lindelof's persistent injury issues could prove to be a stumbling block.

Lindelof missed 22 games for club and country during the 2023-24 season due to hamstring and groin issues, before seeing the start of the new campaign affected by a toe injury.

The centre-back has missed Man United's first three competitive matches of the season - the Community Shield against Manchester City, a win over Fulham and a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Lindelof has not been able to train in over three weeks, and his recurring fitness issues could put off his potential suitors.
