Fiorentina have reportedly given Morocco international Sofyan Amrabat the green light to travel to England to undergo a medical with Manchester United.
Following weeks of speculation, it is understood that Man United finally engaged in talks with Fiorentina on Wednesday over a deal for the 27-year-old.
The Red Devils are believed to have initially placed a loan offer on the table, which was swiftly rejected by the Purples, as it would only have seen them guaranteed €1m (£860k).
However, according to Football Insider, the 20-time English champions have now reached a breakthrough in their attempts to sign the Moroccan, with discussions continuing on Wednesday night.
The report claims that Amrabat will now be allowed to travel to Manchester for a medical, as Erik ten Hag's side close in on his signature.

The midfielder's existing deal with Fiorentina is due to expire next summer, but the Italian side have the option to activate a 12-month extension, which would allow them to sell him at the end of the season.
Man United are believed to be initially looking to take Amrabat on loan, with an obligation to buy likely to be included in the agreement.
Fiorentina are thought to value the midfielder in the region of £30m due to his contract situation, and a host of clubs have been linked with his signature during the summer market.
Barcelona's interest allegedly started after the Moroccan played a leading role in his country reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Atletico Madrid and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest, but it is understood that Amrabat has always been holding out for a move to Old Trafford.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Amrabat has been waiting for Man United 'since June', and the Moroccan has always been the club's leading midfield target despite the recent speculation.
The midfielder is not currently being used by Fiorentina due to the speculation surrounding his future.
However, the former FC Utrecht youngster was a vital player for his Italian club last season, making 49 appearances in all competitions, helping his side to reach the final of the Coppa Italia and Europa Conference League.
Man United have made three signings during this summer's transfer window, bringing in Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund, and the latter could make his debut in Sunday's Premier League clash with Arsenal.
