Luis Suarez allegedly had a clause in his Barcelona contract which prevented him from leaving for Manchester United.

Luis Suarez was allegedly prepared to reveal details of his Barcelona contract if he was prevented from signing for Atletico Madrid.

Having spent the last six years at Camp Nou, the Uruguay international is expected to be confirmed as an Atletico player in the coming hours.

However, a move has allegedly only materialised after a number of Barcelona directors decided to back down in their bid to stop the 33-year-old from joining a La Liga rival.

According to reports in Spain, Suarez was prepared to hold a press conference which may have revealed private email discussions between the relevant parties.

The report claims that it would have confirmed that Suarez, a former Liverpool player, would not be able to sign for Manchester United.

The veteran allegedly wanted to prove that there was no clause in his contract that gave Barcelona the right to block a transfer to Atletico.
