Kieran Trippier would reportedly prefer a move to Manchester United over Arsenal, if he were to leave Atletico Madrid this summer.
United and the Gunners are allegedly keen to recruit the former Tottenham Hotspur defender, who played a key part in Atletico's La Liga title success last season.
Arsenal are in the market for a new right-back to replace Hector Bellerin, who has expressed his desire to leave the club.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, meanwhile, is looking to provide more competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Trippier has been earmarked as a leading target.
However, Atletico are not prepared to entertain any offers below Trippier's £34m release clause, which the two Premier League clubs are not prepared to pay for a player who turns 31 next month.
According to Eurosport, Trippier's preferred destination would be Old Trafford over Mikel Arteta's side, though a transfer in the final week of the window is increasingly unlikely.
The full-back made 35 appearances across all competitions for Atletico last season, as well as featuring five times for England at Euro 2020.
