Manchester United 'hijack Chelsea deal for Luke Shaw'

Chelsea reportedly lose out to Manchester United in the race to sign England left-back Luke Shaw.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho may have to face up to losing out on one of his key transfer targets this summer, with reports suggesting that Manchester United have beaten the Blues to the signing of Luke Shaw.

The 18-year-old Southampton left-back has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but The People claims that Shaw will instead join the Red Devils in a deal worth around £27m.

Shaw, who earned his first England cap against Denmark earlier this month, will agree a contract that could pocket the promising teenager up to £85,000 per week, as manager David Moyes begins the task of rebuilding his United squad.

Chelsea's challenge for the Premier League title was hurt by a surprise defeat to struggling Crystal Palace on Saturday, with John Terry's own goal deciding the game.
