Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has conceded that Bastian Schweinsteiger was "flattered" by Manchester United's supposed interest in his services.
Widespread reports have claimed that United manager Louis van Gaal has made the German international his major midfield transfer target this summer.
When asked about the speculation, Rummenigge insisted that Schweinsteiger had still not made a decision about his future, but he also hinted that a move to Old Trafford has tempted the 30-year-old.
"I spoke to Bastian Schweinsteiger on the phone while on holiday and we're going to meet again when he's back," Rummenigge told reporters.
"I'm not going to hide the fact that I discerned from these talks that he is flattered by the interest from England."
Schweinsteiger, who has made 500 appearances for the Bavarians, has 12 months left to run on his contract at the Allianz Arena.
