Manchester United are reportedly prepared to pay Arturo Vidal the same salary as Robin van Persie in a bid to entice the Chilean midfielder to Old Trafford.
It has been speculated that the Juventus midfielder is new manager Louis van Gaal's major transfer target this summer.
The Italian champions have since responded to those rumours by insisting that the 27-year-old is not for sale.
However, United remain confident that they can persuade Vidal to join them and will sweeten the deal further with a financial package that matches the one received by striker Van Persie, who is said to earn £10m a year, according to Chilean outlet El Mercurio.
The report went on to add that United would only proceed with the move once they have received assurances over Vidal's recent knee injury.
