Manchester United are reportedly readying a £30m bid for Atletico Madrid centre-back Diego Godin in January.
The 30-year-old has been a cornerstone of the La Liga side's backline for six seasons and is said to be top of United manager Jose Mourinho's wishlist as he prepares a major shakeup of his squad in mid-season.
According to The Sun, Mourinho will tempt the Uruguayan to Old Trafford with a contract that will top his current wage of £70,000 a week "by a distance".
The newspaper claims that Mourinho is planning to axe Marcos Rojo, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Matteo Darmian when the transfer window opens, while the futures of Phil Jones, Michael Carrick, Morgan Schneiderlin, Memphis Depay and Ashley Young are in doubt.
United are currently eighth in the Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Manchester City.
