Manchester United: 'Wayne Rooney yet to sign deal'

Manchester United refute reports that Wayne Rooney has put pen to paper on a new record-breaking deal at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have refuted reports that Wayne Rooney has put pen to paper on a new record-breaking deal at Old Trafford.

On Sunday, the Red Devils reportedly took a giant step toward securing the future of their prized asset by tying down the England ace to a four-and-a-half year contract worth an annual £70m - the largest salary in Premier League history.

A club spokesman said: "There is no deal, which is why we haven't announced it."

The 28-year-old was heavily linked with a switch away from the club last summer, with Chelsea among those believed to have been keen on the forwarrd.

Rooney, whose existing deal expires in 2015, has scored nine times in 21 league appearances so far this season.
