Manchester United to offer Wayne Rooney £52m contract?

Manchester United have reportedly put together a new four-year contract for Wayne Rooney, which will see the striker net around £52m.

The 28-year-old's future at Old Trafford appeared uncertain during the summer, as intense speculation led to two bids from Chelsea - both of which were swiftly rejected.

According to The Sun, the England international's early-season form, which has brought five goals and four assists from 10 Premier League appearances, has convinced the United hierarchy to shell out on a new deal.

The same source reveals that the club hope to complete the paperwork by the New Year.
