Manchester United reportedly remain keen to snap up Gareth Bale, using Zinedine Zidane's return to Real Madrid as a chance to pounce.

Manchester United will make one last attempt to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid this summer, according to a report.

The Wales international spent six years in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur before leaving in 2013 and has been regularly linked with a move to Old Trafford ever since.

Bale has shown no interest in taking a pay cut to leave Los Blancos in the past, but on the back of a disappointing campaign both on a personal level and for his club - culminating in his agent calling out Real's 'disgraceful' fans - a transfer now looks more likely.

The Manchester Evening News suggests that United's hopes of landing the 29-year-old have been further boosted by Zinedine Zidane's return to the Bernabeu, as the Frenchman did not always see eye to eye with Bale during his previous stint in charge.

Bale's wages may again prove problematic, but the report indicates that the Red Devils are willing to take a gamble.

Only on three occasions has the Southampton academy product completed a full 90 minutes in the league for Madrid this season, most recently in November.
