Norwich City striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel has revealed that Manchester United frontman and fellow Dutchman Robin van Persie played a part in convincing him to move to Carrow Road.
The 24-year-old made his competitive debut for the Canaries on Saturday in a 2-2 draw with Everton after agreeing to join the club from Sporting Lisbon in March.
"When I was with the national team, I spoke to Robin van Persie before I signed for Norwich City," Goal.com quotes Van Wolfswinkel as saying.
"He said Norwich had made a big impression on him, that they were always a difficult team to play against and that their crowd really got behind them. I know they beat Manchester United 1-0 last season."
As well as making his debut, Van Wolfswinkel also scored during the Premier League opener at Carrow Road.
