Manchester United's Wayne Rooney to consider MLS switch

Wayne Rooney admits that moving to the MLS could be an option for him when he leaves Manchester United.

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has refused to rule out a future switch to the MLS.

Rooney's former England teammates Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard recently made the switch across the Atlantic, while David Beckham also had a stint with Los Angeles Galaxy.

Asked by the Seattle Times during United's ongoing pre-season tour of the USA if he would be tempted to follow in the footsteps of that trio, the 29-year-old said: "I'm obviously concentrating on Manchester United.

"But, when that time comes that will be something I will think about. I will sit down wife my wife and children and decide if it would be right for me."

Rooney, who joined the Red Devils from Everton in 2004, has four years left to run on his contract at Old Trafford.
