West Ham United have reportedly identified Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez as a transfer target ahead of his return to Old Trafford in the summer.
Hernandez, who is currently on a season-long loan at Real Madrid, scored the vital goal in the Champions League quarter-final triumph over Atletico Madrid earlier this week, but there has been no suggestion that the Spanish club are keen to extend his stay.
There is unlikely to be room in Louis van Gaal's squad for the Mexican either, and the Daily Mail claims that the Hammers are preparing to join the race for his services.
The report suggests that the 26-year-old would cost the club £7m, and West Ham are keen to secure a deal as they look to boost their hopes of challenging for European qualification next season.
Hernandez has one year remaining on his current deal.
