Dwight Yorke believes that Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale would be a "fantastic" signing for Manchester United.

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke believes that Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale would be a "fantastic" addition to the squad at Old Trafford.

The Wales international, who has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer, is believed to be a main target for Spanish giants Real Madrid.

United are looking to strengthen following their failure to sign Thiago Alcantara, who opted for a move from Barcelona to Bayern Munich.

"We've still got a lot of quality within the Manchester United team at this present time, but the manager is always looking to strengthen," Goal.com quotes Yorke as saying.

"People like Gareth Bale, in terms of what he's done, the player he has become over the years. He would be a fantastic player to join Manchester United."

Meanwhile, United manager David Moyes has claimed that striker Wayne Rooney will be used as cover when Robin van Persie is injured.
