Real Zaragoza deny that Manchester United have an agreement in place to sign teenager Mateo Mejia.

Real Zaragoza have firmly denied suggestions that Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign teenager Mateo Mejia from the Spanish club.

United have been strongly linked with a move for the 16-year-old in recent days, with one report claiming that the Red Devils had agreed a £600,000 deal to bring the youngster to England.

Zaragoza, however, have firmly denied that the two clubs have settled on a deal for the Spaniard.

"Given the information in the United Kingdom about the Real Zaragoza cadet footballer Mateo Mejia and the interest of Manchester United for his signing, Real Zaragoza wants to clarify the following: Mateo Mejia is a footballer who belongs to the discipline of Real Zaragoza in the Cadet (academy) category, linked to the club with a federative card until June 30, 2020," read an official club statement.

"Real Zaragoza has not reached any agreement for the transfer of this player to Manchester United."

Real Madrid, Arsenal and Valencia are also believed to be interested in signing the attacker ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

There is potentially some positive news on the horizon for United, though, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side said to be closing in on a deal for Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
