Roy Hodgson considering Wilfried Zaha, Nathan Redmond for England's World Cup squad

Roy Hodgson claims that Manchester United's Wilfried Zaha and Norwich City's Nathan Redmond are both in contention for a place in England's World Cup squad.

England manager Roy Hodgson has claimed that Manchester United's Wilfried Zaha and Norwich City's Nathan Redmond are both in contention for a place in his World Cup squad.

Redmond, 19, has been a regular member of Norwich's first team this season, while Zaha, 21, recently joined Cardiff City on loan to secure more game time.

The Three Lions' wing options are being explored in much more depth since Arsenal's Theo Walcott suffered a serious knee injury in January, and Hodgson appears to be impressed with what he has at his disposal.

Hodgson told The Mirror: "If you look at the Under-21 team, they're awash with wide players. Now you've got the boy Zaha back in the frame because he's playing football at Cardiff after his time out; Nathan Redmond is back at Norwich doing very, very well. So we're not short of wide players.

"Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Lennon are still there. It's going to be choice, how many of that type of player do I want to include in the squad and which ones. But it's very good for me.

"If I could bottle the form of some of the players now and make certain they took that to the first game in June, that would be wonderful but you don't know what the intervening months will bring."

Hodgson has also spoken highly of Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling.
