Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has distanced himself from speculation linking him with the vacant managerial post at Newcastle United.
The Spaniard has impressed since joining the Teesside club last season and currently has them entrenched in the battle for promotion to the Premier League.
However, Karanka is adamant that he has no plans to replace Alan Pardew at the Magpies following the 53-year-old's departure to Crystal Palace.
He told reporters: "It is a surprise to me."
When asked if he was committed to Middlesbrough, Karanka added: "120%."
Middlesbrough reached the fourth round of the FA Cup courtesy of a 2-0 win over Barnsley on Saturday.
