Middlesbrough goalkeeper Jason Steele has had his suspension confirmed as three games long.
The Boro keeper saw red for bringing down Dexter Blackstock of Leeds United just before half time at Elland Road on Saturday.
Referee Philip Gibbs viewed the incident as serious foul play, not preventing a goalscoring opportunity, which would have warranted just a one-game ban.
Steele will now have to sit out Saturday's home game with Bolton Wanderers and the trips to Derby County and Birmingham City on Wednesday and Saturday of next week.
Jayson Leutwiler came on against Leeds and is now likely to fill in for Steele in the above matches.
