Middlesbrough and Peterborough United have each taken a point from their Championship match at the Riverside Stadium this evening after it finished goalless.
Sammy Ameobi almost gave the home side the lead when he took a strike following a Grant Leadbitter corner, but Robert Olejnik was able to prevent the goal.
Craig Alcock and Lee Tomlin both had chances for Peterborough towards the end of the first half but Jason Steele made a pair of saves to keep the sides level.
Steele had to make another save at the start of the second half, as Grant McCann unleashed a powerful strike from 20 yards out.
A Scott McDonald effort tested Olejnik in the Peterborough goal, before Steele kept another chance out as Dwight Gayle took a shot.
Tomlin continued to look threatening in front of goal for the visitors, but Steele kept one effort out before another went wide.
Despite both sides creating a number of chances throughout the second half, neither were able to break the deadlock.
The result helps Middlesbrough climb to ninth in the Championship table, while Peterborough remain 23rd, just one point from safety.
