Team News: David Nugent returns for Middlesbrough, three changes for new Charlton boss Fraeye

David Nugent is restored to the Middlesbrough lineup by manager Aitor Karanka, while interim Charlton boss Karel Fraeye makes three changes for his first match in charge.

David Nugent has been restored to the Middlesbrough lineup by manager Aitor Karanka, while interim Charlton Athletic boss Karel Fraeye makes three changes for his first match in charge.

Nugent spearheads the Middlesbrough attack, while captain Grant Leadbitter takes his place on the bench after his side's midweek League Cup penalty-shootout victory over Manchester United.

Stewart Downing takes over the captain's armband, lining out in an attacking midfield berth behind Nugent, while Dimitrios Konstantopoulos returns to his position between the sticks in place of penalty-shootout hero Tomas Mejias.

Interim Charlton manager Fraeye, who replaced Guy Luzon during the week, makes three changes to the Charlton side that were beaten 3-0 by Brentford in their last outing.

Alou Diarra comes into defence in place of Naby Sarr, while El-Hadji Ba and Karlan Ahearne-Grant earn starts in midfield.

Middlesbrough: Konstantopoulos; Nsue, Ayala, Gibson, Amorebieta; Clayton, Zuculini, Fabbrini, Adomah, Downing; Nugent

Charlton Athletic: Henderson; Solly, Diarra, Bauer, Fox; Ba, Ahearne-Grant, Cousins, Jackson, Gudmundsson; Makienok
