Montpellier have hammered Bastia courtesy of a goal each from Marco Estrada, Emanuel Herrera, Younes Belhanda and Anthony Mounier.
Florian Thauvin had the first chance for the visitors but shot wide in the third minute.
On 14 minutes, Montpellier were ahead through Estrada's strike after he had worked some space.
Montpellier continued to be the more threatening side and Herrera had a good chance to double the advantage after 34 minutes but his shot was comfortably saved.
He did net his side's second, however, at the start of the second half after being set up by John Utaka.
It was Belhanda's turn 15 minutes after the interval, finishing from a corner and it got even better in the 76th minute through Mounier, who notched the fourth and final goal of the game.
