Vitorino Hilton signs Montpellier HSC extension

Vitorino Hilton pens a contract extension to stay at Montpellier.

Montpellier HSC centre-back Vitorino Hilton has agreed terms on a one-year extension to his deal.

The 35-year-old's contract was set to expire this summer, but will now run until the end of June 2014.

"I am very happy," Ligue1.com quotes Hilton as saying. "Montpellier have allowed me to display my qualities again after two difficult seasons at Marseille. I have been warmly welcomed here and I am very happy to continue my career with Montpellier.

"When I first arrived, I maybe didn't expect to stay such a long time but that's football. I am happy here and so are my family, which is very important for me. Next season marks the start of a new project with a new coach, and I hope I can help him on the field and off it."

Hilton has made 43 league appearances since joining Montpellier.
