Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa will leave Newcastle United and return to Montpellier HSC in the future, according to chairman Louis Nicollin.
The defender moved to the Premier League outfit in January after captaining La Paillade to the Ligue 1 title in 2012 for £6.7m.
However, Nicollin insists that Yanga-Mbiwa was badly advised and never wanted to leave the Stade de la Mosson in the first place.
"He followed the advice of his agent and he was wrong to leave," Nicollin told reporters. "I feel sorry for him.
"I love him a lot. Don't worry, he'll come back to Montpellier."
Yanga-Mbiwa was dropped by Alan Pardew after a poor display in the defeat to Everton earlier this month.
