Montreal Impact beat New York Red Bulls 1-0 at Stade Saputo in the MLS.

Montreal Impact have beaten New York Red Bulls 1-0 at Stade Saputo in the MLS this evening.

Marco Di Vaio's first-half strike was enough to give the Canadian side the win over the traveling Red Bulls.

The former Juventus striker grabbed the winner on 14 minutes when Patrice Bernier put him through before the Italian beat Red Bulls keeper Luis Robles with a low shot.

Andres Romero nearly doubled the lead when he tried an audacious chip over Robles that landed on the roof of the net just after the hour mark.

Di Vaio could have grabbed his second after 70 minutes but he narrowly missed connecting with a cross from Romero.
