Morocco banned from next two Africa Cup of Nations

Morocco are banned from next two Africa Cup of Nations after pulling out of hosting this year's tournament.

Morocco have been banned from competing in the next two Africa Cup of Nations after pulling out of hosting this year's tournament.

The nation's association has also been fined $1m (£655,944) for failing to host the competition and €8m (£5.9m) in damages.

Equatorial Guinea became the new hosts after Moroccan officials claimed that they did not want the tournament to be played in their country due to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.

A statement read: "The [CAF] executive committee considered that, contrary to what the Royal Moroccan Football Federation cited, force majeure cannot be accepted for the benefit of the federation."

The news comes after the Equatorial Guinea FA was fined £65,000 for the crowd trouble that marred Ghana's 3-0 victory in last night's semi-final.
