St Mirren have recorded a shock 2-1 win over title contenders Motherwell in the SPL this evening.
The hosts almost took the lead in the 19th minute when Jim Goodwin latched onto a corner, only to see his effort cleared off the line.
They did break the deadlock five minutes before the interval, however, Steven Thompson making no mistake with his finish to make it 1-0.
Thompson doubled his side's lead just three minutes later, rising highest at the back post to nod home his second of the match.
John McGinn almost extended St. Mirren's lead even further when his shot looked goalbound, but Darren Randolph was equal to the effort.
Motherwell grabbed a goal back with just over 10 minutes left of the match when he latched on to Henrik Ojamaa's cross, putting his shot in off the bar.
They couldn't find an equaliser in the closing stages, however, as St. Mirren held out for an important win against the high flyers.
