Nantes boss takes positives from Paris Saint-Germain loss

Michel Der Zakarian says that Nantes can take away a lot of positives after their narrow loss to Paris Saint-Germain.

Nantes manager Michel Der Zakarian believes that his side have a lot to be positive about despite losing to Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.

Having equalised in the second half, Ezequiel Lavezzi struck the winner to inflict a 2-1 defeat on Les Canaris at Stade de la Beaujoire.

Despite ending up on the losing side of the match, Der Zakarian feels that there are both good and bad points to take away from the match.

"Do I have regrets? Yes and no: our first 30 minutes were very tough as we didn't play well in our five-defender formation. We were better balanced in a 4-3-3, won the ball more and were more in control," Der Zakarian told reporters.

"In the second half, we pushed forward to seek them out and we managed to move them around, even though it was tough. We equalised, but then unfortunately conceded a second goal.

"We just need to build on what we did well - we have to take confidence from our performance - and keep making progress in terms of hanging onto the ball and using it well. We were worried we might cop a hiding tonight, but aside from the first half-hour, we performed well. But we have to take points if we want to beat the drop, and to do that we have to learn to be more effective."

Nantes travel to Reims in their next match this weekend.
