Paolo Cannavaro's agent denies Napoli exit talk

Napoli captain Paolo Cannavaro will stay and fight for a place in Rafael Benitez's side this season, according to his agent.

Napoli captain Paolo Cannavaro will stay at the San Paolo Stadium this season and fight for his place in the side, according to his agent.

Cannavaro has been with Napoli for seven years in his second spell with the club, but his position in central defence is under threat this year under new coach Rafael Benitez.

The 32-year-old failed to make the starting XI for Napoli's Serie A opener against Bologna last weekend, with summer signing Raul Albiol preferred in central defence for the 3-0 win.

Despite admitting that his client feels undervalued, Cannavaro's agent Enrico Fidele believes that the veteran defender has no intention of leaving before the transfer window closes.

He told Radio Crc: "Cannavaro will not change his jersey, I don't think Napoli want to let him go.

"The Coach is right to make his own choices though. The field is his to do whatever he wants.

"But Aurelio De Laurentiis is a man of his word and has said that Paolo is an important player."

The Azzurri skipper has two years left on his current deal in Naples.
