Marco van Basten insists that he is not in the running to succeed Bert van Marwijk as the Netherlands' new boss.

Former Netherlands manager Marco van Basten has insisted that he is not considering a return to the national side.

The Dutchman, who is currently in charge of Heerenveen, has been considered as a replacement for Bert van Marwijk, who resigned from his position following Holland's dismal Euro 2012 campaign.

"I'm at Heerenveen now and I'm happy here," Van Basten told Algemeen Dagblad. "Who should be the new [Netherlands] coach? I don't think about it. I've got my work here at Heerenveen and it's not up to me.

"The Euros went badly and was not good for Netherlands but I don't think about it too much. Everyone's already said something about it and I don't want to talk about it too much."

Netherlands failed to progress past the group phase at the tournament and finished bottom of Group B.
