New England Revolution 0-1 Toronto

Luis Silva's first-half strike is enough to see Toronto earn a shock win away at Eastern Conference rivals New England Revolution.

Luis Silva struck the only goal of the game as Toronto recorded a surprise win away at New England Revolution.

The 23-year-old midfielder slammed home from 12 yards after Danny Koevermans had flicked the ball into his path on eight minutes.

Toronto almost doubled their lead midway through the first half when Koevermans found Ryan Johnson in a similar position, but this time Bobby Shuttleworth made a smart save.

New England took control of the midfield after the break and created a host of chances to level the scores - Lee Nguyen, Jerry Bengtson and AJ Soares all went close.

However, Toronto, who face Liverpool at Rogers Centre in seven days, desperately clung on for a potentially vital three points.

Toronto remain bottom of the Eastern Conference, six points below New England.
