Yohan Cabaye proud of goal against Sunderland

Cabaye proud of derby goal

Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has revealed that his goal against Sunderland was his proudest moment since joining the Magpies.

Cabaye scored after just three minutes in the Wear-Tyne derby to give Newcastle a dream start at the Stadium of Light.

A late equaliser pulled Sunderland level but Cabaye has insisted that he will always have fond memories of the match thanks to his early strike.

He told The Sun: "I was really happy to score my first goal of the season and my first derby goal.

"It's the best moment since I came to Newcastle. It was a great moment and when I saw the fans, they were going crazy so for me, it was a really good start.

"I know how important this match is for the club, for the fans, for the city, for everyone who supports Newcastle. It means everything for everyone, and for me."

The French international's goal was his first of the campaign after netting five times in his debut season on Tyneside.
