Newcastle United chief scout Graham Carr reportedly decides to stay at the club, despite the controversial appointment of Joe Kinnear as director of football.

Newcastle United chief scout Graham Carr has reportedly decided to stay put at St James' Park, despite reports of a possible walkout.

Doubts over the 68-year-old's position at the North-East outfit emerged following the appointment of Joe Kinnear, who will have the final say on transfers in his new role as director of football.

While there had been suggestions that Carr would leave his post, it is understood that following a brief discussion with owner Mike Ashley, he has been assured that he is valued at the club, according to The Chronicle.

Reports have also claimed that manager Alan Pardew intends to see out his eight-year contract, despite the controversial arrival of Kinnear.
