John Carver hits out at Newcastle United players following latest loss

Newcastle United are "not good enough", manager John Carver admits following their defeat to Swansea City.

Newcastle United manager John Carver has described his side's performances as "not good enough" after they fell to their seventh straight Premier League defeat against Swansea City today.

The Magpies took the lead through Ayoze Perez, but goals from Nelson Oliveira, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jack Cork gave the Welsh side the three points.

Carver told BBC Sport: "When you lose so many games your confidence is going to be hit. Again we showed character, the players stayed with it right to the end.

"Ayoze Perez had a good chance at 3-1 down and Siem De Jong got the second goal and we kept going but it's not good enough."

The result leaves Newcastle, who face Leicester City next weekend, looking over their shoulders as they sit just five points above the relegation zone in 14th place.
